Sweet & Savory Caramelized Pork Meatballs Recipe
Prep Time: 10 min | Cook Time: 20 min | Yields: 18 meatballs
+ 1 lb (450 g) ground pork
+ 3 tbsp breadcrumbs (DIY recipe here)
+ 2 garlic cloves, minced
+ 2 tbsp sesame seeds
+ 1 tbsp sesame oil
+ 2 tbsp chives, thinly sliced
+ 1 egg, slightly beaten
+ sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
+ 1/4 cup soy sauce
+ 1/4 cup mirin
+ 2 tbsp rice vinegar
+ 3 tbsp honey
Transfer the ground pork meat to a large mixing bowl and add the breadcrumbs, garlic, sesame seeds, sesame oil, chives, egg, salt, and black pepper. Use your hands to mix everything, then take a tablespoon of the pork-sesame mixture onto your palm and shape into meatballs.
Heat one tablespoon of sesame oil in a large saute pan over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs to the pan and cook until golden. Then add the soy sauce, mirin, rice vinegar, and honey, mix well and cook until the sauce begins to caramelize.
Sprinkle sesame seeds and chives on top of the caramelized meatballs and serve with rice noodles or sauteed vegetables. Enjoy!
